Easy Painted Background

Have you ever admired the cards with beautiful backgrounds painted from scratch, and then bemoaned your lack of time, dedication, and/or mad skills to do the same thing?

Well, I’ve got good news for you – the Brushstroke Bold Prints background stamp makes getting such a look super easy, super quick, and it’s also a lot cleaner than painting from scratch. ;) Perfect for lazy – er, I mean, super busy! – crafters like me.

I started with my lighter colors first, so that I wouldn’t have to worry as much that the darker inks would be completely cleaned off the stamp between inkings. So I started with Soft Pink, Soft Pool, Pale Tomato, Stone Wash, and finally, Versamark, so that I could heat emboss the top layer with some Copper embossing powder.

Before I did my heat embossing, I quickly stamped my little “so much” stamp (from the Thanks Stamp and Cut) in Black ink, so that I wouldn’t have to worry about stamping it on top of the copper embossing later.

As I inked up the background stamp, I avoided the edges of the stamp, and rather haphazardly inked up the center, not worrying if I was getting complete coverage or not. I did my best to avoid any harsh lines from either the stamp or the ink pad. Then I dabbed at the ink randomly with a paper towel, and stamped. This slightly crazy method of stamping helps for the different layers of ink colors to show through.

Going back, I think I would give the first two colors, Soft Pink and Soft Pool, more ink coverage, since they’re so light and have a harder time competing with the darker colors.

I die cut the panel using the Rectangle Infinity dies, and then adhered it to a card base. Finally, I die cut the Thank You Pair twice each out of black cardstock, adhered the two layers together, and adhered it to the base, and topped it off with some Wink of Stella. Some black stars, die cut from the Star Confetti die, finished the card off.

What’s great about this design is that you can substitute your own favorite color combo, and it works for almost any occasion! Just switch your sentiment up!

Thanks so much for stopping in and God bless!
