Hi everyone! Yana is here and today I want to share one of my favourite techniques when working with stencils – dry embossing! I’m going to show two ways this can be done – dry embossing on white paper and dry embossing on Hero Arts layering paper.
So lets jump right in. I’m going to add texture to a white panel using my Heart Patterns stencil and dry embossing technique.
Stencils are a great way to create beautiful and custom backgrounds and there’s a lot you can do with them – you can ink through a stencil, you can add texture paste through a stencil, you can stamp through a stencil or you can use it as a dry embossing tool. And, note this, Hero Arts stencils are now more affordable with the new lower price, yay!
You can use stencils in your die cutting machine and emboss your paper. And this is exactly what I’m going to do for today’s projects.
If you are having problems viewing the video, please try watching it HERE on YouTube.
You can even take your embossing a step further and sand the top layer of your paper to reveal the white core. This is going to give your background a completely different look.
Because the hearts are raised from the surface its very easy to sand that top layer and it doesn’t take more than a couple a minutes to achieve this look.
Give it a try and I’m sure you will love it!
