But now Hero Arts has added to their Ombré line with two new pigment inks in the colors of Vintage Metallic Rust and Vintage Metallic Steel. • Selective Two Color Stenciling

Selective Two Color Stenciling by Yana Smakula

Have you seen new Hero Arts challenge? Its all about using those fabulous flowers on our projects! And truth be told, in anticipation of Spring all I want to do is surround myself with stunning florals and bright colors. How about you?

Hero Arts Bold Floral Stencil is a perfect tool to create stunning flowers on cards, tags or any other paper crafting project. The cards I’m sharing today were created using a fun technique called Selective Two Color Stenciling (okay, I made that name up just now, but this is what I would call it). Whenever I see a stencil my mind instantly goes into “one color full sheet inking” mode, but this time I challenged myself to step outside the box and use two colors of ink and do partial or selective inking only.

  • Custom Paint Colors

Today I’m gonna show you how to get some more use out of your inks – by using them to create custom colored paint! To create your custom color, smoosh your ink pad against an acrylic block (or some plastic acetate), and then add a couple drops of acrylic. I used some pearlescent white acrylic paint, so […]

  • Paper Layering Heart Valentines

Paper Layering Heart by Jayne Nelson for Hero Arts

One of my favorite Valentine’s Day memories is exchanging valentine cards with my grade school classmates. Once I got to junior high, I continued to exchange cards with my close friends. So when my seventh grade niece asked me to make her some special valentines for her friends, I knew that I wanted to use the Paper Layering Heart to create cards that could be easily duplicated.

  • Video: Non-traditional Valentines

    Non-traditional Valentines by Clare Prezzia

Today I get to share with you some not-so-Valentine-ish cards using some Valentine stamps – in a video!

I started both cards out by covering the card base with Versamark (watch the video for my tips on this part!), then going over with clear sparkle embossing powder. If you don’t have glitter embossing powder, you can make your own by simply mixing some regular embossing powder with ultra fine glitter! I definitely recommend the ultra fine glitter, as larger glitter will more likely melt and not look so pretty. ;)
